Roofing Specialist Trainee

Salary: £18,000 - £22,000 per annum
You will learn the skills required to work on roofs as a roofing specialist trainee. This role involves removing rubbish and keeping the work area clean and tidy. You will also be responsible for removing or repairing broken slates and tiles, checking roof timbers, measuring and cutting materials to the correct size, cutting and fitting lead flashings around chimneys, tiling and slating, roofline joinery works, sealing roof joints, moving, handling, and storing resources in accordance with relevant legislation and guidance.
As a construction skills development apprentice, you will gain valuable experience in accessing, interpreting, and creating drawings and specifications to complete work. You will also erect tower scaffolding, select required materials and resources, set up, check, and operate plant and equipment, install related materials and components to a given specification, use, maintain, and store hand tools, power tools, and associated equipment.
The successful candidate will work towards a Level 2 Roofer Qualification, which takes 2 years to complete (plus End-Point Assessment). Training will be delivered through Leeds College of Building. The salary is based on national averages for the industry and location.
