Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Dental Nurse to join our team in the Community Dental Services at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will work as part of the East Locality Community Dental Services team and Dental Services General Anaesthetic team at York District Hospital.

The Community Dental Service provides dental treatment for children, adults, and older people with additional needs, such as learning disabilities, physical disabilities, or vulnerability. This role is based in Scarborough and involves working on a rotation with the Dental Services General Anaesthetic team at York District Hospital.

Main Duties
  • Carry out administrative tasks to ensure efficient operation of the clinic.
  • Ensure a high standard of infection prevention control is maintained within the dental clinics.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities

The Salaried Primary Care Dental Service sits within the Community Children's and Countywide Care Directorate.

The service provides comprehensive clinical and administrative procedures for patients, including those with special needs, challenging behaviour, communication difficulties, dental phobias, sensitive medical histories, and complicated medical histories.

Person SpecificationEssential Criteria
  • Good general education with skills in written and oral English and basic maths.
  • NEBDN Certificate and/or an appropriate professional qualification or equivalent.
  • Higher National Diploma level or equivalent experience.
  • Registered with the General Dental Council as a Dental Care Professional.
  • Experience as a Dental Nurse.
  • Up-to-date knowledge in all areas of Dental Nursing.
  • Competent in basic MS Office and IT Applications.
Desirable Criteria
  • Additional qualifications in Sedation, Radiography, Special Care Dentistry, or Oral Health Promotion.
  • ECDL or similar information technology training.
  • Experience of working with patients with special care needs.
  • Experience of previous dental administration.
  • Experience of working with SOE (Software of Excellence).
