Financial Accounting Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accounting Manager to join our team at National Highways. As a key member of our Business Services directorate, you will play a critical role in managing our £4 billion a year finances, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our financial statements, and providing expert guidance on financial accounting policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the production of statutory financial accounts and the Dartford & Thurrock River crossing financial statements.
  • Deliver the quinquennial review of the Strategic Road Network, ensuring valuation and underpinning methodologies comply with accounting standards.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors during interim and final audits.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate financial accounting policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support business partners and other finance teams as an accounting subject matter expert.
  • Manage and motivate a team of talented individuals, deploying their knowledge, skills, and experience to achieve team objectives.
Requirements:
  • Fully qualified accountant with a relevant up-to-date membership of a recognised professional body.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and FreM.
  • Substantial experience in financial accounting roles, including consolidation functions, in a large organisation.
  • In-depth knowledge of standard accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of government financial reporting requirements.
