Deputy Ward Sister Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Ward Sister to join our team at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our ward team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the ward in the absence of the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse, coordinating the busy assessment unit and working in our exciting new unit surgical SDEC.

Your leadership will ensure that appropriate skill mix and staffing levels are achieved through the effective and efficient utilisation of the ward team, maintaining a high standard of care throughout each shift.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the ward in the absence of the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse
  • Coordinate the busy assessment unit
  • Work in our exciting new unit surgical SDEC
  • Ensure appropriate skill mix and staffing levels
  • Maintain a high standard of care throughout each shift
Requirements
  • First Level Registered Nurse, with NMC registration
  • Suitable teaching qualification/Mentoring Course
  • Diploma or degree in health/nursing related studies
  • Completion of all local competency packages or has undertaken Working in New Ways Packages relevant to role and specialty
  • Formal leadership and management training
