Senior Obstetrician Specialist Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Obstetrician Specialist to join our team at Southmead Hospital, North Bristol NHS Trust, Bristol. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a high-risk tertiary maternity unit, providing exceptional care to women and their babies.

The successful candidate will have a CCT in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, including ATSM in Fetal Medicine or sub-specialty training in Maternal and Fetal Medicine. They will be responsible for the clinical management of patients under their care, working closely with consultant colleagues to ensure continuity of care.

The postholder will also be responsible for the professional supervision and management of junior medical staff, as well as participating in a Clinical Audit Programme. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices are essential.

The appointee will be required to reside not more than 30 minutes travel by road from base hospital, for on-call purposes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the clinical management of patients under their care
  • Work closely with consultant colleagues to ensure continuity of care
  • Supervise and manage junior medical staff
  • Participate in a Clinical Audit Programme
Person Specification
  • MRCOG or equivalent
  • Maintain Full registration with the GMC
  • CCT in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and have been entered on the GMC Specialist Register at the time of commencing the post
  • Experience of working in a high-risk tertiary maternity unit
  • ATSM fetal medicine
  • Evidence of recent CME/ reasonable training progression at this stage of career
  • Good written communication skills
  • Evidence of leading a team in the clinical setting
  • Demonstration of service development / managing change
  • Demonstration of quality improvement projects successfully completed
