Job Overview

Dundee City Council seeks a skilled Community Support Specialist to join their team in the Social Care Response Service, West District Office. This part-time position requires 30 hours of work per week.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this role is £24,000 - £30,000 depending on experience. As a Community Support Specialist, you will have access to further study/training opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a 24-hour response service for vulnerable individuals who rely on an alarm call system for support.
  • Offer a locally based mobile service to Sheltered Housing tenants during off-duty periods of full-time Wardens.

Requirements

  • Holding an SVQ 2 in Customer Care or higher, as well as a Professional Development Award in Tele-healthcare, is essential. Alternatively, you must be able to achieve these qualifications within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Proficiency in working with computerised systems, including data input and retrieval, is mandatory.
  • You should possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, as well as good assessment skills.
  • A calm and patient approach, along with sensitivity towards vulnerable individuals, is crucial.
  • Flexibility in working shifts, including evenings, weekends, and nights, is necessary.

About the Role

This position involves Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Prior to employment, you will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.
