About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Chef to join our team at Westgate Healthcare.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and developing the kitchen team, independently preparing hot and cold meals for residents, and planning seasonal menus alongside our Catering and Hospitality Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop the kitchen team
  • Prepare hot and cold meals for residents according to their needs and preferences
  • Plan seasonal menus alongside our Catering and Hospitality Manager
  • Work within budget, manage stock control, and complete regular audits
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic environment
  • Carry out any reasonable requests or instructions from the Catering and Hospitality Manager and Home Manager
  • Ensure compliance with the Health & Safety Policy and regulations in kitchen and stores
  • Carry out checks in the kitchen to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Report all accidents and incidents to the Person-in-Charge of the Home
  • Have full knowledge of the Fire Procedures, fire escapes, and a working knowledge of the firefighting equipment
  • Have full knowledge of and take responsibility to ensure adherence to infection control policies and procedures of the Department of Health and the Company at all times

Requirements:

  • The right to live and work in the UK
  • Previous experience in a similar role and setting (i.e. a care home or a school)
  • Certificate Level II in Food Safety and Hygiene
  • Knowledge of nutritional needs of older people
  • Health and Safety and regulatory requirements
  • A positive and flexible attitude towards work and the ability to work well in a team
