We are seeking an experienced Payroll Team Leader to join our team at West Sussex County Council. As a key member of our HR and OD Directorate, you will be responsible for leading a team of up to 15 individuals in delivering high-quality payroll and HR administration services to our customers.

The Opportunity

As Payroll Team Leader, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of payroll and HR services, including the provision of customer-focused support and the development of practices, systems, and processes to improve service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of up to 15 individuals in delivering payroll and HR services
  • Ensure the efficient and effective delivery of payroll and HR services
  • Develop and implement practices, systems, and processes to improve service delivery
  • Provide customer-focused support and guidance to customers
  • Collaborate with the management team to address peaks and troughs in service demands
Requirements
  • Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) / IPPM qualified or equivalent
  • Relevant advanced theoretical, practical, and procedural knowledge related to delivering payroll and HR services
  • Good working knowledge of SAP or other similar equivalent systems
  • Sound and accurate overall IT knowledge including Microsoft Office, specifically advanced Excel
  • Specialist practical and theoretical knowledge of relevant regulations, services, and schemes within Local Government
