Job Description:

The purpose of this role is to provide site-based leadership and support to staff, ensuring the successful completion of projects as per customer requirements. Key tasks include supervising and leading site-based staff, supporting Site Managers in driving service delivery, and maintaining key performance targets and SLAs.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Work closely with Site Managers on operational activities.
  2. Plan and supervise work for the Projects team and sub-contractors, ensuring completion to a defined standard, within agreed time and budget.
  3. Liaise with Project Engineers to prioritise work fronts.
  4. Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation.
  5. Work with Planning Engineer and Site Manager to ensure sufficient and deliverable work fronts.
  6. Mentor direct reports, enhancing their skills and knowledge.
  7. Promote high standards and WGM vision and values.
  8. Manage individual performance and cross-functional team members.
  9. Ensure working compliance with WGM, Electrical Safety Rules, and Mechanical Safety Rules.
  10. Train to Approved Person level in Electrical and Isolation Safety Rules.
  11. Carry out duties of the Approved Person, meeting technical standards.
  12. Promote safety and established work practices, controlling environmental impacts.
  13. Day-to-day line management responsibilities for Projects craft persons.
  14. Responsible for daily delivery of site-based activities as per Programme.
  15. Participate in Daily Site Briefings.
  16. Ensure correct permits and documentation are in place.
  17. Ensure high productivity on site, planning labour, plant, and materials efficiently.
  18. Ensure zero incidents, on-time delivery, zero defects, and customer compliance targets.
  19. Support Construction Manager, achieving adequate understanding to deputise when required.
  20. Create Risk Assessments and Method Statements, ensuring suitable revision and review.
  21. Drive right-first-time vision, job review, and lessons learned application.
  22. Provide detailed updates to the client.
  23. Build strong client relationships.
  24. Meet weekly and monthly deadlines, preparing detailed reports.
  25. Work with Planning Engineer to create performance indicators.

To be considered for this position, you will have at least 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within an engineering or civils environment. An excellent working knowledge of the water industry is beneficial, as is awareness of NEC3 Construction & Engineering Contracts and electrical or mechanical bias. Travel to various sites throughout the country is required, so a valid UK driving licence is essential.
