Job Overview:

North East Regional Employers Organisation is seeking a highly skilled Highways Surfacing Assistant to join their team. The successful candidate will provide critical support to the Surfacing Senior Team Leader, managing the countywide road surfacing operation and ensuring the smooth delivery of projects.

As a key member of the Technical Services team, you will be responsible for programming works, ordering materials, interpreting drawings, liaising with contractors and internal colleagues, and assisting with the day-to-day management of the internal resurfacing workforce.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in highways resurfacing or a related field, with excellent communication and organizational skills. A knowledge of waste management would also be beneficial.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Surfacing Senior Team Leader
  • Manage the countywide road surfacing operation, including programming works and ordering materials
  • Interpret drawings and liaise with contractors and internal colleagues
  • Assist with the day-to-day management of the internal resurfacing workforce
  • Support the NCC recycling and waste management for Highways activities

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum
  • 26 days annual leave plus public/bank holidays, rising to 31 days after 5 years of service (pro rata for part-time employees)
  • Automatic enrolment into the Local Government Pension Scheme
