On-Call Firefighter RoleSuffolk County Council is seeking highly skilled and dedicated individuals to join our On-Call Firefighter team. As an On-Call Firefighter, you will play a vital role in providing emergency response services to the community, working closely with our team to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents.
Key Responsibilities:- Respond to emergency incidents, including fires, road traffic collisions, and other emergencies
- Work collaboratively with other emergency services to provide a comprehensive response
- Participate in regular training and drills to maintain and improve skills
- Contribute to the development and implementation of emergency response plans
- Minimum 18 years old
- Live or work within 5 to 8 minutes of a fire station in Suffolk
- Hold a full UK driving licence and access to personal transport
- Have a reasonable level of personal fitness
- Have permission to be released from your main employment to attend emergency incidents
- Annual salary (retainer fee) paid monthly, plus an hourly rate and disturbance fee for attending incidents
- Hourly fee for attending drill nights and training courses
- Contribution to the new Firefighter's pension scheme
- Issued with a uniform and personal protective equipment
Within the service, there is a clear career progression route, as follows:
- Trainee Firefighter
- Development Firefighter
- Competent Firefighter
- Crew Manager
- Watch Manager
In Suffolk, we support the progression of on-call firefighters into full-time roles, therefore career progression into many other roles is possible.
