Job Summary:

Howard Tenens Logistics is seeking a highly skilled Quality Controller to join our team. As a Quality Controller, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality management across our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect all inbound products at receiving for quality issues and ensure that the product ordered is the product delivered.
  • Perform comprehensive inspections and reports as required.
  • Assist with all food-based contracts on site, ensuring awareness of existing and new allergens and segregation requirements.
  • Work with Whole Foods to resolve problem arrivals, including reporting quality issues and monitoring protection tracking and reporting losses.
  • Maintain and update all site certification documents according to review or when changes occur.
  • Facilitate the organisation of external training sessions (HACCP, Internal Auditors) when required, alongside the Quality Manager.
  • Create, present, minute and distribute Monthly Quality Management Meetings, Quality reports for trending food items and 'Weekly Shrink top 20' as requested by WFM.
  • Liaise with the Hygiene team to lay out expectations and create cleaning schedules.
  • Deal with any major food product spillages/breakages and train staff on how to appropriately deal with these situations.
  • Complete daily walks and report on refrigeration and freezer units, as well as weekly site walkarounds.
  • Manage and oversee organic stock segregation and storage within facilities.
  • Train staff on BRCGS/food-safety awareness.
  • Create and distribute food-safety materials (Tip of The Week posters etc.).
  • Email communications to Internal Auditors stating when audits are due and typing them up once complete.
  • Manage and order food-safety required equipment, such as shadow boards and signage.

Requirements:

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications and other office systems.
  • An eye for quality and a commitment to achieving excellence.
  • Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness and to check signage and labelling for accurate pricing.
  • Passes in English and Mathematics (GCSE level or equivalent).
  • Experience working in a food-based industry (ideally within the logistics sector).
  • HACCP Level 2 certification.
