Job Summary:

About the Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for working as an autonomous practitioner in a single-handed capacity, managing a wide and complex clinical caseload. You will work closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective communication and coordination of care. Your duties will include conducting highly specialist clinics, coordinating patients' checks, and developing treatment plans. You will also be responsible for mentoring junior staff, teaching ophthalmic colleagues, and participating in departmental meetings.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct highly specialist clinics in contact lens, cornea, paediatric, medical retina, research, and low visual aids
- Coordinate patients' checks, including adult refraction, paediatric objective refraction, visual function assessment, and tonometry
- Work as an autonomous practitioner in a single-handed capacity without supervision
- Undertake highly skilled, specialist, and extended roles
- Develop treatment plans for individual patients
- Provide advice and support to patients and relatives regarding visual problems

Requirements:
- Optometry degree from a recognised institution
- Registration with the General Optical Council
- Relevant post-graduate study
- Evidence of role extension and mentoring junior staff
- Teaching experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Salary and Benefits:
The estimated salary for this position is £60,000-£80,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including pension scheme, life assurance, and generous annual leave.
