About the Morgan Group

The Morgan Group is a dynamic and interdisciplinary research team that combines advanced imaging techniques, genetics, genomics, and biochemistry to investigate meiotic recombination in Arabidopsis and wheat. Our research aims to uncover the underlying mechanisms of meiotic crossover formation and to develop new strategies for improving crop yields.

The Role

The successful applicant will be responsible for studying the biochemistry of meiotic recombination proteins in Arabidopsis, using a combination of advanced microscopy, molecular biology, and genetics. This will involve investigating the spatiotemporal localisation and dynamic behaviour of the recombination machinery, with a focus on understanding the mechanisms that govern the frequency and positioning of meiotic crossovers.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biochemistry, genetics, or a related field, with experience in advanced microscopy and molecular biology techniques. They will be highly motivated, with excellent communication and teamwork skills, and a passion for contributing to cutting-edge research in plant and microbial sciences.
