About the Role

The Edinburgh Zoo is seeking a skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Skilled Labourer. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, contributing to the maintenance and upkeep of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out property maintenance related tasks to agreed timescales, quality standards, and in a cost-effective manner.
  • Undertake designated activities, including multi-trade repairs, and ensure all assigned tasks are delivered effectively, on time, and to agreed H&S and quality standards.
  • Support the construction and maintenance of new buildings, facilities, and infrastructure to agreed standards, budgets, and deadlines.
  • Drive company vehicles, including pickup trucks, off-road ATVs, and forklift trucks, and ensure they are maintained and roadworthy.
  • Operate heavy plant on a regular basis and ensure all machinery and tools are cleaned, inspected, maintained, and user logbook updated daily.
  • Assist in the ordering of supplies and services required for the team.

Requirements

  • Relevant construction qualification or minimal 2 years' experience of working on a hands-on construction/maintenance role.
  • A full driving license.
  • Able to identify and make safe all utilities and services encountered while working on Edinburgh Zoo sites.
