Job Opportunity

We are working with a leading house builder in Hertfordshire who are seeking a skilled Land Acquisition Specialist to strengthen their team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, negotiating, and acquiring new sites in the Hertfordshire, Essex, and Cambridgeshire areas. They will work closely with land agents and housing associations to secure new sites, reporting directly to the Land Director.

The ideal candidate will have a strong network of contacts in the residential development agency world and a proven track record of sourcing and acquiring land in the Hertfordshire and East Anglia regions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing Off-Market Land: Identify and acquire new sites in the Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Essex areas.
  • Partnering with Housing Associations: Develop and maintain relationships with housing associations to explore partnership JV opportunities.
  • Liaising with Landowners and Agents: Negotiate with landowners and agents to secure potential purchases.
  • Overseeing Consultants: Manage legal, planning, and design consultants pre- and post-acquisition.
  • Staying Up-to-Date with Planning Policy: Maintain knowledge of town planning policy, particularly in key areas.

Expected Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree-Qualified: Property-related degree or equivalent experience.
  • Deal-Making Expertise: Proven track record of sourcing and acquiring land, with 1-2 deals per year.
  • Senior Land Manager: Experienced senior land manager or land manager ready to take on a new challenge.
  • Land Acquisition Expertise: Demonstrable knowledge of the planning application and appeals process.
  • Strong Network: Established network of contacts in the land agency world.
  • Autonomy and Independence: Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
