Job Title: Senior SEMH Support Specialist

Salary: £25,000-£28,000

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and passionate Senior SEMH Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our pastoral support team, you will play a vital role in providing targeted support to students with SEMH challenges, helping them to overcome social, emotional, and mental health barriers to academic progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide pastoral support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to develop coping strategies and improve their overall wellbeing.
  • Work closely with the SENCo and pastoral team to develop and implement effective pastoral provision, ensuring that all students receive the support they need to succeed.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to identify and address the needs of students with SEMH challenges.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with students with SEMH needs, ideally in an educational or pastoral setting.
  • A strong understanding of mental health issues, behavioural management techniques, and safeguarding protocols.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and external partners.
  • An empathetic, non-judgmental, and patient approach.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, mental health, or counselling would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A passion for making a difference and promoting positive outcomes for vulnerable young people.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain).
