Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Professional Technical Ltd. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design and development of rotating electrical machines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop clean-sheet mechanical designs for rotating electrical machines.
  • Conduct exploration, design development, prototyping, and testing of concepts.
  • Perform mechanical analysis of conceptual designs, demonstrating a strong understanding of likely component failure modes and material strengths.
  • Lead or contribute as a senior member within a team to deliver projects to internal or customer specifications.
  • Utilize best-in-class simulation software to optimize and analyze product behavior.
  • Create 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings of components and assemblies.
  • Collaborate with other design engineers and the wider cross-functional department to deliver programs.
  • Work to company and industry quality standards.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in engineering roles.
  • Creation of high-quality 3D models and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Use of hand calculations and appropriate analysis software (ANSYS Mechanical, MATLAB, etc.).
  • Production of high-quality 2D engineering drawings, for both manufacture and assembly, to BS8888.
  • Design, development, and delivery of prototype components and related tooling.
  • Appropriate selection of materials, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacture principles.
  • Knowledge of design analysis skills such as Design for Manufacturing, DFMEA & PFMEA.
  • Hands-on assembly of prototype hardware.
  • Ability to understand technical requirements and their influence on design.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with ANSYS, including static structural analysis, thermal, and modal analyses.
  • Experience with rotating machines.
  • Packaging of electronic components and assemblies in mechanical enclosures.
