About the Role

UKCEH is seeking an experienced Quantitative Ecologist to contribute to scientific discovery and generate data, insights, and solutions that researchers, businesses, and governments need to solve complex environmental challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake integrated analysis of spatial data with ecological observations to generate novel insights into the causes and consequences of ecological change.
  • Analyse changes in habitats and landscape features and their related biodiversity over time.
  • Use different data sources to provide biodiversity relevant information on habitat extent and condition.
  • Understand how landscape structure relates to habitat condition at different scales.
  • Develop and apply predictive models of biodiversity to future scenarios of global change.
  • Publication of datasets and peer-reviewed journal papers.

Requirements

  • A PhD in a relevant subject or a Master's and experience equivalent to a PhD in a relevant subject.
  • Experience in the application of remotely sensed data for ecological analyses.
  • The ability to lead and write clear scientific reports and peer-reviewed papers.
  • Used programming languages to solve complex geospatial or scientific problems.
  • Experience manipulating and analysing spatial data.
  • Can develop analytical workflows.
  • Presented work clearly to expert and non-expert audiences.
  • Data manipulation and data management skills.
