Job Description

The NDT Supervisor is responsible for the management, planning, organization, coordination, and delivery of radiography/surface works and associated activities in accordance with company procedures. This includes giving direct instruction to technicians, ensuring safe and efficient execution of all activities, and providing quality results in a timely manner, while complying with applicable company, customer, and site processes and procedures.

Main Responsibilities
  • Organize and ensure safe working practices are being adhered to, including checking daily, weekly, and monthly checks, radiation monitoring/notifications, and source movement logs.
  • Attend coordination meetings and liaise with clients.
  • Daily scheduling of inspection tasks to ensure workpacks are achieved on schedule with minimal downtime. Provide regular progress reports to the Project Manager and others as requested.
  • Ensure all inspection activities are carried out with respect to HSEQ, in accordance with the BMS and/or client management systems.
  • Responsibility for the safe storage and use of radioactive isotopes and completing daily logs in line with legislative and company requirements.
  • Perform and oversee conventional NDT inspections as determined by the Management Team, client work pack, specification, or other instruction.
  • Manage onsite equipment to ensure all P&E is calibrated, functional, and restocked as required.
  • Compile, store, and regularly submit company HSEQ and procedural documentation to the Project Manager and others as requested.
  • Translate NDT codes, standards, specifications, and procedures into NDT techniques.
  • Ensure all work is reported correctly on NDT reports in accordance with procedure or work pack requirements:
    • Sample technician reports on a monthly basis for any anomalies.
    • Report NDT results accurately using current versions of controlled documents.
    • Define and record the inspection limitations of the testing method(s) per site conditions and application.
    • Interpret and evaluate test results according to applicable standards, codes, specifications, or procedures.
    • Engage with the relevant Technical Manager(s) where anomalies are found and ensure solutions to inspection challenges are explored and overcome for our clients.
    • Where required, adopt client software systems to aid in the traceability of inspection tasks, reporting, and report handover.
    • Maintain a positive safety culture by encouraging all team members to participate in and adhere to permits, risk assessments, and safety procedures. Knowledge share, mentor fellow team members, and share opportunities for improvement.
  • Carry out technical audits and peer reviews of site NDT and Inspection work, reporting any non-conformances and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Responsible for preparing weekly timesheets, collating holiday requests, and absence records for review/approval by the Project Manager.
Experience
  • Fully conversant with modern inspection methods and have at least 5 years documented experience.
  • The ability to communicate effectively at all levels with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong IT skills in Excel, Word, and Microsoft.
  • Experience of working independently.
  • Experienced in the inspection of new build pipework, preferably in the nuclear sector.
  • Proficient report writer.
  • Proven track record in a similar role.
Qualifications
  • Valid certification in NDT to Level 2 Radiography (ISO 9712/SNT) with Radiation Protection Supervisor (ISO 9712/SNT).
  • Industry, Company, and Client-specific training/safety critical requirements as per the company's Recruitment Procedure.
