Barnet Council is a borough with a strong commitment to supporting children in care and their families. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Officer for Child Protection to join our team.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* To act as a lead officer for work with children in care and children subject to child protection plans by demonstrating specialist knowledge and ensuring the maintenance and development of high-quality practices that meet performance targets set nationally and locally.
* To demonstrate specialist knowledge of current child care legislation, the London Child Protection Procedures, government departmental circulars, and local arrangements, and to ensure that child in care reviews conform to those requirements.
* To be responsible for chairing child in care reviews and where required child protection conferences (using the Strengthening Families/Signs of Safety model), as directed by the Senior Safeguarding Officer.
* To be responsible for drawing up robust and comprehensive plans for children and tracking the implementation of these according to necessary timescales.
* To be responsible for ensuring that appropriate amendments are made to the client database regarding consultation and preparation for reviews, minutes of meetings, and the child's plan.
