Electro Magnetic Compatibility Engineer (921)

Location: Cranfield

Hourly Rate: £27.00 p/h

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team as an Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) specialist. This is a long-term contract role with a globally recognised automotive company, with the potential for the contract to extend over several years.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Supporting the Electrical & Electronic (EE) Test team with the validation of various vehicle and system tests, including:
    1. Whole Vehicle EMC (Internal Combustion Engine, Hybrid, and Electric Vehicles) tests.
    2. E&E Systems & Electronic parts EMC tests.
    3. EMC Regulation 10 tests.
  2. Opportunity to support testing at major test facilities across the UK and Europe.
  3. Development and set-up of new test systems for EV CCS (AC & DC chargers).
  4. Set-up for EMC tests on V2L, V2G, V2X, and Autonomous drive systems.
  5. Creation of test plans to meet project and design milestones.
  6. Creation of testing procedures, confirming vehicle specifications and test parts.
  7. Coordination of vehicle transportation when required.
  8. Leading overall vehicle test technical coordination as project leader.
  9. Formal reporting of test results to design sections and upper management.
  10. Root cause investigation and recommendation of countermeasures.
  11. Providing technical support to the production plant when necessary.
  12. Occasionally supporting field investigations.
  13. Ensuring quality assurance of electrical systems to meet client standards.
  14. Completing validation for responsible commodities within project milestones.
Qualifications & Experience:
  1. Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  2. Strong understanding of electrical theory and the operation of electronic devices.
  3. Fluent written and verbal English communication skills.
  4. Experience with Harness/EDS layout and application.
  5. Ability to follow system circuit diagrams and identify electrical connections.
  6. Practical experience with problem-solving tools and techniques.
  7. Experience with automotive CAD tools.
  8. Relevant experience in automotive vehicle & electrical/electronic system development and generic EMC test standards.
  9. Competency with PC applications, especially Microsoft Excel and Project.
  10. Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  11. Flexible with working practices and hours, with the ability to travel abroad for testing (typically a few days to 2 weeks, occasionally longer).
Hours & Pay:

Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week.
Hourly rate: £27.00 p/h
