About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Operative Signalling Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Network Rail. As an Operative, you will play a critical part in the daily upkeep of the rail network, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of passengers and freight.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the maintenance team in delivering safe and efficient work delivery
  • Work closely with the team to maintain equipment and provide lookout duties to ensure the safety of the team
  • Develop technical skills and competencies relevant to the discipline, keeping up to date with new standards, procedures, and instructions
  • Work outdoors in all conditions, at all times of the year, day, or night, and remain calm under pressure
  • Follow rules and instructions, and feel confident to challenge if a situation is unsafe
Requirements
  • Team-working: ability to work closely with the team to deliver safe and efficient work delivery
  • Communication: good communication skills to work safely and effectively
  • Proactive planning: punctuality, having the van and equipment ready, and anticipating the needs of the team
  • Working under pressure: ability to remain calm under pressure while working outdoors in all conditions
  • Following rules and instructions: understanding and respect for rules, and confidence to challenge if a situation is unsafe
  • Willingness to learn: consistent development of skills and competencies relevant to the discipline
