Year 1 Teaching Assistant Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at Fleetwood Primary School. As a Year 1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the class teacher and pupils in achieving their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging learning activities.
  • Work one-to-one with pupils or in small groups to support literacy, numeracy, and phonics development.
  • Assist with classroom management and create a positive, stimulating learning environment.
  • Help monitor and record children's progress, offering feedback to the class teacher.
  • Encourage children's social and emotional development through positive interactions.
  • Support the individual needs of pupils, including those with additional learning needs or requiring extra support.
About You:
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a Key Stage 1 setting is highly desirable.
  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is preferred but not essential.
  • A patient, caring, and enthusiastic approach to working with young children.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
  • A strong understanding of the Year 1 curriculum, including phonics, is advantageous.
  • Flexibility and the ability to work as part of a team are key.
