As a Senior Statistician at Symmetron, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects in health economics and outcomes research. With over 15 years of experience in providing solutions for major pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturers worldwide, we are committed to delivering high-quality statistical work.

Company Overview

Symmetron promotes a culture of creativity, independent thinking, teamwork, and scientific excellence. We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in Health Technology Assessment (HTA) to join our multidisciplinary team.

Salary and Benefits

We offer a very competitive base salary of £80,000 per annum, a pension scheme, and an annual performance-related discretionary bonus. Additionally, we provide professional development opportunities, including a hybrid and flexible mix of home and in-office working, life and private health insurance, and access to free confidential well-being advice via our employee assistance programme.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality statistical work across different projects in various therapeutic areas. This will involve performing regression analyses using individual patient-level data from clinical trials or registries, survival analysis to extrapolate long-term results, and Bayesian network meta-analysis to indirectly compare different interventions.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Conducting statistical analyses as stand-alone projects or to feed into economic models or HTA submissions;
  • Working with colleagues to scope new projects, lead development of statistical analysis plans, and research new methods relevant to our work;
  • Liaising with health economics and health outcomes colleagues to ensure statistical analyses are aligned with expectations across different teams;
  • Developing slide decks, study reports, manuscripts, posters, and other publications related to health economics and outcomes research;
  • Managing day-to-day project activities and ensuring deliverables are provided at an excellent standard.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need a postgraduate degree in statistics, mathematics, or a scientific field with a focus on data analysis. You should also have proven experience as a statistician or data analyst in a commercial or academic setting, with confidence in using WinBUGS (or a similar NMA software) and R. A genuine interest in HTA, systematic review, evidence synthesis, critical appraisal, health economics, and statistics is essential.

You should also possess excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and an organised approach to planning and delivering work of high quality. Experience in conducting Bayesian network meta-analyses and survival analyses from inception to reporting phase, handling patient-level data, and large databases, medical claims databases, and registries is desirable. Project management experience and a willingness to trial, explore, or recommend new software that may suit specific projects are also valuable assets.
