Ecological Consultant Specialist

Job Role and Responsibilities
The role will be based primarily in the energy and infrastructure sectors, providing ecology input to deliver projects from initial feasibility through planning, procurement, construction, operation, and in some instances, to decommissioning. The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of European and UK legislation for terrestrial ecology and be responsible for delivering tasks safely and on time to the required standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Specifying ecological surveys and carrying out surveys aligned to the candidate's specialism.
- Authoring reports and proposing mitigation plans.
- Applying for protected species licenses and inputting to HRA Pre-screening reports and EIA chapters.
Requirements and Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a degree in an ecological or related subject, be able to complete extended Phase 1 habitat surveys, and have advanced field skills in one or more specialist areas. They will also have a good working knowledge and understanding of Scottish wildlife legislation, strong report writing and communication skills, and a Full, clean UK manual driving license.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in carrying out ecological surveys such as Phase 1, UKHAB, and BNG, and protected species.
- Working towards or having an appropriate Institute Membership, such as CIEEM or IEMA.
