Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at the Community Health Center, Inc. in New Britain, Connecticut. As a Medical Assistant, you will provide clinical and technical support to our school-based health center medical providers, ensuring the highest level of care for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical support to medical providers, including preparing patients for exams, taking vital signs, and collecting clinical data.
  • Perform CLIA waived laboratory tests and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure adequate supplies and equipment are stocked in the health center.
  • Enroll patients in the health center and bill for services rendered.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, parents, school faculty, and staff.
  • Participate in continuous performance improvement activities and maintain confidentiality of patient information.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course from an accredited/recognized school.
  • Board Certification/Registration Required.
  • Prior knowledge, skillset, or training for EKG use, phlebotomy, appointment scheduling, word processing, and computer skills.
  • Sound organizational skills and accuracy at all levels of the job.
  • Prior demonstrated excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Must be team-focused and demonstrate leadership qualities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual.
  • Experience with electronic health records.
  • Two or more years of experience as a Medical Assistant.

Work Environment:

  • Requires manual dexterity to perform clinical tasks, moderate physical activity, including standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens and/or bio-hazardous material.
