Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant DNA and Tissue Curator to join our team at the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew. As a key member of our Laboratory-based Collections team, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards in the management of our internationally important collections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curate the plant DNA and Tissue collections to international standards, including identifying priority areas for curation and collection development.
  • Develop and implement best practices for plant DNA and tissue curation, including data management and limited extraction of plant DNA from tissue.
  • Contribute to small-scale project management and collaborate with colleagues in other Kew Science Departments on research projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports and journal articles, as required.
  • Participate in teaching and training activities, as well as public engagement activities in the Gardens, to promote Kew's science.

Requirements

  • At least 5 GCSEs (including Maths and Science), or equivalent knowledge and experience to deliver the role.
  • Experience of biological collection management and curation techniques, including data curation and biological specimen curation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and work unsupervised for periods of time.
