About the Job

Chapman Tate Associates is seeking a highly skilled RPG Developer to join our team. As an RPG Developer, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing applications using RPG versions 1, 2, 3, or 4.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using RPG versions 1, 2, 3, or 4.
  • Work on existing systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement new features as required.
  • Contribute to front-end development projects using Java Grails, integrating modern web applications with legacy RPG systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration between back-end RPG systems and front-end Java Grails applications.
  • Engage in full lifecycle development projects, from initial requirements gathering to deployment and post-implementation support.
  • Optimize and refactor existing RPG code to improve performance and maintainability.
  • Produce and maintain clear technical documentation for both RPG and Java Grails development efforts.
  • Quickly diagnose and resolve issues within both RPG and Java Grails environments.
  • Work closely with other developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet business needs.
Requirements
  • Strong experience in RPG development, specifically with versions 1, 2, 3, or 4.
  • Hands-on experience in front-end development using Java Grails, with a solid understanding of web development principles.
  • Proficiency in both RPG and Java Grails, with a strong understanding of how to bridge legacy systems with modern technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a knack for optimizing and refactoring code.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Flexibility to work on both legacy and modern systems, adapting to evolving technology landscapes.
  • Any certifications in RPG or Java development would be a plus.
