Sales Engineer Specialist

Westerdale Group seeks a talented Sales Engineer Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical solutions, concept design, cost estimations, and proposals for automated handling systems and conveyors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the sales team to generate new business through customer-specific product concepts and quotations, working closely with the engineering team to gather and review client requirements, develop concepts and costings based on previous work, and produce detailed technical proposals and bids.
- Demonstrate commercial awareness, understanding customer needs, and a proactive approach to identifying additional sales opportunities.
- Foster relationships with key customers to drive profitable new business and repeat business by providing tailored solutions that meet their requirements.
- Help maintain and develop a strong customer portfolio and order base.
- Achieve a high level of proficiency in complex mechanical systems, including techniques for low-volume production such as milling, turning, fabricated frameworks, sheet metal fabrication, etc.
- Demonstrate expertise in pneumatic system design and a basic understanding of hydraulic systems.
- Exhibit proficiency in PLC control systems within an industrial environment and have an interest in Industry 4.0.
- 2D capability is also desirable.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in all aspects of engineering, particularly advanced manufacturing techniques.
- Complete assigned tasks within agreed schedules, reporting progress.
- Attend customer sites for surveys, meetings, and technical discussions.
Requirements:
- An engineering degree (mechanical, electrical, or mechatronics) or equivalent apprenticeship experience.
- Relevant post-qualification experience.
Desired Skills and Abilities:
- The ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments.
- Hands-on experience designing electro-mechanical systems in industrial, automotive, or aerospace settings, ideally creating custom automation/materials handling equipment.
- A thorough understanding of manufacturing and assembly procedures at a systems level, considering electrical controls, reliability, and maintenance requirements.
- Proficiency in office software programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- The ability to interpret customer and supplier technical documentation and specifications.
- The ability to read and understand customer terms and conditions, identifying potential risks.
- The capability of making informed design and product support decisions aligning with organizational goals.
- An appreciation for the business environment and the impact of individual actions on organizational deliverables.
- Leadership skills for specific tasks when appointed or applicable.
The estimated salary for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
