Role Overview

Thames Water is seeking an experienced Operations Liaison Engineer to join our team. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the smooth delivery of our water infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote a Culture of Safety: Monitor contractor health and safety, address issues, and improve site health and safety performance.
  • Support Well-being and Operational Compliance: Liaise with project teams to maintain compliance and support the well-being of team members and colleagues.
  • Drive Operational Efficiency: Understand and support operational compliance requirements, and liaise with the project team to maintain compliance.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Develop relationships with project delivery teams to ensure a culture of end-user involvement is embedded across the programme.
  • Ensure Quality Standards: Adopt the standardised approach to operational engagement to ensure efficient governance and meet quality standards.
  • Support Design and Construction: Support the design process, ensuring operational layouts and functionality are in line with best operating practices.
  • Manage Operational Risks: Understand and agree as the operations representative risks, outages, and schedules, ensuring these are effectively decided upon and communicated at appropriate levels within Operations.
  • Co-ordinate Site Access and Training: Understand and agree as the operations representative on-site access, mobilisation, and availability of plant and personnel to facilitate construction, integration, commissioning, training, and takeover.
  • Define TOCOPs and TWOSAs: Facilitate definition and agreement of TOCOPs and TWOSAs.
  • Verify Readiness for Takeover: Verify as operations representative readiness for takeover, approval of Project Agreement Document.
  • Post-Takeover Support: Support operations post-takeover to ensure benefits are embedded and projected operational requirements are achieved.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: HNC or above in an appropriate engineering subject or significant experience in a similar role.
  • Operational Experience: Experience in an operational role related to water/wastewater/networks as appropriate to the specific appointment.
  • Health and Safety Certifications: NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate, SMSTS or IOSH.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Understanding of performance and quality management, delivery forms of contract, and operational understanding across Thames Water.
  • Interpersonal and Technical Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, technical knowledge of water/wastewater operations, and ability to identify and break down system processes and operational difficulties.
