About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our Aseptic Services team at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust.

As an Aseptic Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality aseptic services to patients, including chemotherapy, radiopharmaceuticals, and intravenous additives.

You will work closely with other professionals, such as Pharmacists and nurses, to ensure seamless delivery of patient care.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pharmacy/ science technician qualifications, with at least 1 year of practical experience in aseptics.

Aseptic experience in compounding, including cytotoxics, is also essential.

We offer a competitive salary of approximately £35,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.

In addition to your salary, you will also receive a comprehensive benefits package, including training and development opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the compounding of all aseptic preparations, including chemotherapy, clinical trials, radiopharmaceuticals, and intravenous additives within the aseptic unit using isolator technology.
  • Maintain personal competencies to be able to check products manufactured within aseptic services.
  • Always follow procedures, ensuring that the procedure is current and valid and when required work with a senior member of staff to update procedures.
  • Maintain broth validation and skills in manufacturing.
  • Complete worksheets, transcribing detailed information from prescriptions onto worksheets, carrying out of complex calculations. If required querying patient doses with Pharmacists to ensure accuracy in line with standard operating procedures.

Requirements:

  • Btec, City and Guilds, NVQ 3 or equivalent Pharmacy/Science technician Qualification or BSc in a science based degree.
  • GCSE or equivalent Maths.
  • GCSE or equivalent English.
  • Basic Computer skills such as Microsoft Office.
  • At least 1 years practical experience in aseptics.
  • At least 1 years experience of supervising and training staff.
  • Experience in aseptic compounding including cytotoxics.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
