Job Title: Commercial and Regulatory Legal Counsel

Are you a seasoned employment lawyer with a strong background in advising on complex employment matters and litigation, both in the UK and internationally?

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial and Regulatory Legal Counsel to join our team at The Stephen James Partnership. As a key member of our legal team, you will provide expert employment law advice across various jurisdictions, supporting both UK and international operations, and contribute to advancing our organisation's Equality and Anti-Racism strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advising on a wide range of employment matters, including disciplinary issues, grievances, employment disputes, and litigation.
  • Supporting country programmes with employment law queries, liaising with external lawyers in different jurisdictions.
  • Offering legal advice that balances regulatory, reputational, and ethical risks, while promoting our organisation's values.
  • Drafting and updating HR policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and alignment with current case law.
  • Conducting training on employment-related issues and creating self-help tools for colleagues.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years PQE in employment law with experience in complex litigation and advisory work across jurisdictions.
  • Additional expertise in areas like global mobility, positive action for diversity, or charity/commercial law is desirable.
  • Skilled at building strong relationships and fostering transparent governance, while aligning with our organisation's core values.
