Position Overview

Thales is seeking a Lead Quality Assurance Engineer to deliver Engineering Testing support for the development of aircraft systems and engineering designs produced by the Aircraft Installation Engineering team.

In this role, the engineer will be responsible for both production and qualification testing. Key duties include comprehending design specifications, formulating test plans, facilitating test campaigns, and generating test documentation. Additional responsibilities encompass maintaining and operating testing apparatus, establishing the testing environment, and collaborating with external partners (including regulatory authorities, aircraft manufacturers, suppliers, and testing facilities).

Key Responsibilities

  • Qualification Testing: Develop test plans to validate systems and components created by the Aircraft Installation Engineering department. Conduct and/or oversee qualification testing and produce test reports in compliance with aviation authority standards.
  • Acceptance Testing: Execute Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) for systems and components developed by the Aircraft Installation Engineering department.
  • Seat Group Testing: Provide support to the Seat Group Testing team, including designing necessary test adapters and familiarizing with testing protocols.
  • System Testing: Conduct laboratory conformity assessments as required.
  • Communication: Contribute to the preparation of monthly system reliability reports and presentations. Engage with external stakeholders, including airline customers and original equipment manufacturers, under guidance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in 2D CAD software is essential.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with aircraft Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) documentation and familiarity with aviation regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including shifts and weekends as necessary.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to identify issues and propose solutions, along with the capability to prepare comprehensive reports and presentations.
  • The ideal candidate will quickly adapt, take initiative, and work independently across various teams with minimal supervision.

Special Position Requirements

  • Schedule: Standard business hours, Monday to Friday, with potential for hybrid remote work arrangements.
  • Travel: Anticipated travel may reach up to 25% annually.
  • Physical Environment: Access to production areas is required, with the ability to lift small weights (up to 10 lbs).
