The role involves delivering high-quality anaesthesia and perioperative care for a range of surgical specialties. You will have the opportunity to develop sub-specialty interests, including perioperative medicine and regional anaesthesia.

The department of Anaesthesia at University Hospital Ayr comprises 43 Consultants, 15 SAS doctors, 20 Trainee Anaesthetists, and 3 Anaesthesia Associate trainees. You will be part of a dynamic team that provides anaesthesia and perioperative care for patients requiring emergency surgery, input to critical care, and stabilisation and transfer of level 3 patients.

NHS Ayrshire & Arran is undergoing transformational change, with a focus on developing University Hospital Ayr as a centre of excellence for orthopaedic elective surgery. You will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, with a range of teaching opportunities available both undergraduate and postgraduate.

We are committed to supporting specialty doctors who wish to pursue the CESR route of entry to the GMC specialist register.
