Job Summary:

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with special needs in a vibrant school community in Rotherham.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing direct support to students with special needs, helping them with academic tasks and ensuring they understand the material.
  • Assisting the classroom teacher in creating an inclusive learning environment.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development to stay informed about the latest strategies, techniques, and legal requirements related to special education.

Required Skills and Qualities:

  • Passion for working with children and a desire to make a difference in their lives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational and emotional needs of children with autism.

This role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or willingness to apply for a new one.
