Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled School Nurse Specialist Practitioner to join our team and provide clinical leadership support and professional direction to our staff. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing health promotion and health education programs, as well as providing guidance and support to our nursing staff.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership support and professional direction to our nursing staff.
- Develop and implement health promotion and health education programs for children and young people.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure effective communication and coordination of care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports, adhering to Trust policies and procedures.
- Participate in service development and quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the growth and development of our team.

Person Specification
Essential
- First-level Registered Nurse (degree level) with NMC registration.
- Evidence of post-registration education and training at HE level 6.
- Practice Assessor/Supervisor competent.
- Specialist Community Public Health Nurse qualification (SN).
Desirable
- Contraception and Reproduction Health qualification.
Experience
Essential
- Demonstrable evidence of professional development.
- Demonstrable and considerable experience working within the safeguarding children arena.
- Demonstrable or relevant experience in delivering health promotion and health education programs.
- School nursing experience.
Skills
Essential
- Evidence of utilising evidenced-based practice and appraising standards.
- Demonstrates leadership skills and understanding of professional responsibilities within the team.
- Able to establish and maintain key relationships with colleagues and other disciplines.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrate the ability to facilitate and support implementation of service development within a team.
Knowledge and Understanding
Essential
- Detailed knowledge of health and social care policy relating to children's services, including safeguarding.
- Detailed knowledge of national and local strategies relating to the school nursing service.
- Detailed knowledge of Public Health initiatives for children and young people.

- IT skills, including the ability to use Microsoft packages.
- Ability to access information using the internet and IT skills knowledge.
- Willingness to travel city-wide for work purposes.
