Safety Engineer - Software & Electronics Hardware

Job Description


Our client is seeking a highly skilled Safety Engineer to join their electronics and software team, supporting key aerospace equipment development projects.

As part of the electronics and software team, the Safety Engineer will be responsible for delivering safety support at equipment level to our business and clients, including:

  • Providing safety input to bid, internal/external design review, and certification-related activities
  • Guiding safety programme requirements
  • Collating evidence and deliverables to support product safety argument generation
  • Hazard identification and control
  • Detailed analyses of complex systems using fault tree methodology
  • Production of safety case reports
  • System-level analyses, integrating multiple sub-system inputs
  • Platform loss modelling, integrating multiple system-level analyses
  • Zonal safety assessments (ZSA)
  • Common mode/cause analyses (CMA/CCA)
  • Particular risk analyses (PRA)

Required Skills and Qualifications:


Specific skills/knowledge/experience should include subjects such as:

  • Aerospace systems safety at equipment level
  • Safety-critical systems
  • ARP4754 System Design Process
  • ARP4761 Safety analysis
  • DO-178C Airborne Software design
  • DO-254 Airborne Electronics Hardware design
  • FPGA/Microprocessor architectures for DAL A, B, airborne equipment
  • Hazard Logs and analysis activities, including: HAZID, HAZOP, FHA

Analysis techniques such as:

  • FTA, ETA, FMEA, FMES

Production of safety documentation, such as:

  • PSSA, SSA, PRA, etc.

Working within a quality system environment, such as:

  • AS9100, ISO9001

Requirements management tools, e.g.:

  • Polarion, DOORS, or Jama

KEY POINT:

Candidates will ideally have experience in aerospace-related systems safety engineering principles, processes, and standards. However, for suitable candidates without relevant safety experience, a safety training programme will be provided.
