Early Years Kitchen Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Bright Horizons Winchester Day Nursery and Preschool. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment, supporting the Chef in food preparation, and ensuring the highest standards of child welfare and protection.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and cook age-appropriate meals for children, minimizing food waste and adhering to dietary requirements.
- Support the Chef in maintaining kitchen standards, including cleanliness, organization, and inventory management.
- Take responsibility for the kitchen in the absence of the Chef, ensuring all requirements are met and communicated to the team.
- Promote and ensure child welfare, protection, health, and safety, and safeguarding.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a positive, happy, and safe environment.
- Previous experience in a kitchen role, preferably in a domestic or commercial setting.
- Passion for nutrition and inspiring healthy eating habits.
- Food Safety CIEH L2 or above (or equivalent) certification.
- Sound knowledge of COSHH and managing different dietary requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, children, and parents.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
