About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Neuro Physiotherapist to join our dynamic and supportive multi-disciplinary team at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. As a Specialist Neurophysiotherapist, you will play a key role in developing and consolidating your clinical and leadership skills in a specialist community neuro rehabilitation setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide highly specialist Neurophysio services to adults referred to the community, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of neurological conditions.
  • Develop and provide Physio training within the department and to other professionals, families, and students, as well as Physio/rehab assistants.
  • Act as a knowledgeable resource regarding physical impairments following Neurological injury to other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Triage clients to ensure therapy is given to those with the highest risk, and demonstrate skills in dealing with complex issues to generate appropriate strategies for caseload.
  • Ensure clients and relatives are involved in the planning and implementation of their care plans, and provide specific goals to be incorporated into a patient's rehabilitation.
  • Design and implement individual specialist therapy programs, and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Develop effective relationships for information sharing and service development with GPs, social services, and other members of the MDT.
  • Demonstrate clinical effectiveness by using evidence-based practice to measure progress and inform discharge.
  • Undertake research and development, and work as part of a multi-professional team providing integrated services for adults with acquired neurological conditions.
  • Propose changes to services/policies within the Physio department, and maintain timely and accurate case notes and written reports.
  • Develop a working knowledge of relevant procedural and national/local drivers that impact community Neuophysio, including Vulnerable Adults, NSF for older people, and National Stroke Strategy.
  • Follow the Chartered Society for Physiotherapy (CSP) and the Health and Care Profession Council (HCPC) policies and professional codes of Conduct.
Person Specification
  • Experience working as a Physiotherapist, with a strong background in Neurophysiotherapy.
  • Desirable: Experience working as a specialist Neurophysiotherapist, and a Master's degree in Neurorehabilitation.
  • Essential: HCPC Registration.
