Job Title: Finance Manager

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join our team at Forward Waste Management Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operations of finance run smoothly, providing accurate management information, and maintaining a strong financial control framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain up-to-date accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate management information and a clean audit report.
  • Ensure a strong financial control framework exists for monitoring and mitigating risks.
  • Review the monthly management accounts, including a comparison against budget and providing commentary and variance analysis.
  • Prepare the monthly board pack, including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
  • Post any journals required to the Sage system to produce the above-mentioned management accounts.
  • Review all divisional management reporting, offering suggestions for improvements and cost savings.
  • Produce weekly cash flow forecasts.
  • Be responsible for supplier payment approvals and cash collection of trade debtor balances.
  • Actively look for working capital management opportunities in line with working capital targets.
  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns and submit to HMRC.
  • Manage, develop, and lead the Finance team, including supervision and development of 2 direct reports.
  • Prepare year-end financial statements in accordance with FRS102.
  • Prepare audit information files and be the key contact for the auditors and tax advisors.
  • Assist with the annual budget process and half-yearly reforecasting.
  • Optimize the full potential of Sage 200 accounting package in conjunction with bespoke waste management software (ISYS).

Requirements:

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • Fully Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA), with at least 3 years PQE.
  • Experience in preparing budgets within a multi-disciplined conglomerate SME business.
  • Ability to plan and manage the workload of the team.
  • Keen eye for detail.
  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to model opportunities.
  • Process-driven.
  • Knowledge and demonstrable experience of utilizing Sage 200 is essential.

Desirable Qualities:

  • Previous experience and success within a finance manager role is essential.
  • Previous experience working in industry will be an advantage.
  • Must be proactive and flexible to support the growth of the company.
  • Has experience of setting up or changing controls & processes where required to promote a strong financial control framework.
  • Excellent team player with a can-do attitude.
  • Very organized, able to work to tight deadlines with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Commercially aware.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and possess the ability to prioritize and juggle several tasks at any one time.
  • Able to work unsupervised and to successfully complete tasks within tight deadlines.
