BAE Systems (New) offers a highly competitive salary of £23,100 for this Industrial Placement Submarines Weights Engineer role.

About the Job

In this exciting opportunity, you will be part of designing, building, testing, and commissioning the largest and most advanced submarines ever operated by the Royal Navy. As a Weights Engineer Undergraduate, your tasks will involve calculation and monitoring of weights and centres from project concept to vessel delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare data for technical and production departments to assist them in handling and transporting units, subunits, modules, and rafts.
  • Undertake functional design and provide specialist advice on their scope of responsibility, providing evidence for acceptance and fitness for purpose.
  • Obtain confirmation beyond reasonable doubt by reviewing, surveilling, and auditing assumptions, engineering data, analysis methodologies, and interpretation of results.
  • Produce evidence in support of qualification, legislative requirements, and safety justifications and provide specialist support for associated activities.
  • Contribute to identifying and closing issues emerging from all product lifecycle stages and manage resulting change embodiment activities.
  • Liaise with internal and external customers as required, ensuring their requirements are adequately supported and needs are fully considered and incorporated where appropriate.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must be on track to obtain a 2.2 in your Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. You must also be returning to university to complete your degree.
