Deputy Mortuary Manager and Quality Lead Position

The University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Mortuary Manager and Quality Lead to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a full range of mortuary activities, including the safe storage of deceased bodies for post-mortem examination, and will assist the Mortuary Manager in supervising and coordinating the work of mortuary staff.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mortuary management, with experience in managing staff and resources, and a good understanding of the Coroner's system. They will also have excellent communication and leadership skills, and be able to work unsupervised.

The Deputy Mortuary Manager and Quality Lead will be responsible for assisting pathologists with post-mortem examinations, including high-risk cases, and will work out of hours on forensic cases as required. They will also be responsible for developing and reviewing standard operational procedures and other documents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a full range of mortuary activities, including safe storage of deceased bodies for post-mortem examination
  • Assist Mortuary Manager in supervising and coordinating work of mortuary staff
  • Develop and review standard operational procedures and other documents
  • Assist pathologists with post-mortem examinations, including high-risk cases
  • Work out of hours on forensic cases as required

Requirements:

  • Strong background in mortuary management
  • Experience in managing staff and resources
  • Good understanding of the Coroner's system
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised
