Job Title: Attendance and Inclusion Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Attendance and Inclusion Lead to join our team at Reed. This role is crucial for ensuring that attendance strategies are effectively implemented and aligned with statutory legislation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective attendance strategies to improve the attendance and engagement of children with a social worker.
  • Oversee the attendance of all children with a social worker, including looked after children, and provide regular reports to senior managers and other professionals.
  • Advise schools and academies on strategies to promote regular and punctual attendance, and provide leadership and training on issues related to children with a social worker.
  • Regularly scrutinise attendance data to ensure absences are recorded according to DfE guidance, and identify reasons for non-attendance, make assessments, and develop plans with specified timescales to facilitate a return to school.
  • Support School Attendance Officers and senior managers in advising schools on attendance matters, and lead the development of processes to improve attendance.
  • Directly manage the Virtual School apprentices within the team, ensuring they remain on target with their apprenticeship qualifications through supervision and liaison with educational institutions.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications in a related specialist field such as SEN, inclusion, safeguarding, or social care.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Detailed knowledge of statutory legislation related to school attendance, child protection, and special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Proficiency in using IT systems for report generation and data analysis.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in delivering training.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective strategies and plans.
  • Experience in managing and supervising staff or apprentices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with schools, social workers, governors, carers, and other stakeholders.
