About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sales and Retail Assistant to join our team at Dole UK Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking day-to-day procurement and sales of fresh produce within an existing client base and further develop profitable business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish, maintain, and develop relationships with existing and new suppliers to ensure a consistent and high-quality supply of fresh produce.
  • Identify and develop new sales opportunities to increase revenue and expand our customer base.
  • Maximize sales and profit margins by negotiating the best possible prices with suppliers and ensuring efficient stock controls.
  • Regularly involve in stock controls to ensure accuracy and minimize losses.
  • Work closely with the Department Manager to develop opportunities within the region and ensure seamless communication with the sales, procurement, and operations teams.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to maintain a strong reputation and build long-term relationships with existing and new customers.
  • Assist in picking and assembling specific customers' orders when applicable, with an average weight of 10 kilos per package.
  • Liaise with sales, procurement, and operations employees at the warehouse depot to ensure a smooth and efficient supply chain.
  • Liaise with group H&S and technical teams to ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Co-ordinate with Dept Managers/Branch Manager to ensure effective communication and collaboration across the organization.
  • Develop close working relationships with existing and new customers to understand their needs and preferences.
  • Develop close working relationships with key suppliers to negotiate the best possible prices and ensure a consistent supply of high-quality products.

Requirements

  • A successful track record within a fast-moving wholesale or retail environment with fresh produce experience.
  • Commercial industry knowledge and understanding of the fresh produce market.
  • Customer-focused with a strong ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Profit orientated and cost conscious with a focus on maximizing sales and profit margins.
  • Strong influencing skills to negotiate with suppliers and ensure effective communication across the organization.
  • Performance Management focus to drive results and achieve targets.
  • IT literate with a strong understanding of technology and its application in a commercial environment.

Other

A full clean driving licence is essential for this role, with regular travel to suppliers and customers.
