Tenant Engagement Specialist

We are seeking a skilled professional to assist a Local Authority in Islington with the appointment of a Tenant and Landlord Engagement Officer on a 3-month contract, with the possibility of extension. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tenant relations and landlord engagement, with experience in investigating harassment and illegal evictions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice, advocacy, and assistance to tenants on their rights and responsibilities, and landlords/letting agents on their rights and obligations.
  • Develop opportunities to engage with tenants and landlords, with the aim of improving the management of privately rented homes in the borough.
  • Organize meetings, groups, and other platforms with internal and external stakeholders involved in private rented housing to promote good practice in rented accommodation, including establishing and promoting a Landlords Forum.
  • Lead on consultation and research to identify and assess the views and priorities of stakeholders, with the aim of developing strategies for landlord and tenant engagement.
  • Play a proactive role in the development of policies and procedures that impact on private sector tenants and landlords.

Requirements:

  • Degree or level 6 qualification in a relevant field, or extensive practical experience in landlord and tenant engagement activities.
  • Experience of working in tenancy relations roles, including investigating harassment and illegal evictions.
  • Experience of working in partnership with other teams and organizations.

  • The candidate must have the right to work in the UK.
  • A basic DBS check will be required.
