Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Network Engineer to join our dynamic IT infrastructure team at Required IT. As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, securing, and optimizing our IT network to ensure top performance, security, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Network Infrastructure Management: Maintain and optimize network performance, including virtual networks, cloud infrastructure, and WAN technologies.
  2. Security and Disaster Recovery: Manage and support backup and disaster recovery systems, implementing updates in line with business guidelines.
  3. Device Management: Configure and manage firewalls, routers, load balancers, and switches to ensure secure and efficient network performance.
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with security and infrastructure engineers, appreciating and fulfilling their unique requirements.
  5. Performance Monitoring: Analyze network performance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve bottlenecks proactively.
  6. Helpdesk Support: Collaborate with and educate helpdesk staff on network-related issues, providing support as needed.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge in TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, load balancing, VPNs, and network protocols.
  • Device Management: Strong skills in configuring and maintaining network devices such as firewalls, routers, and switches.
  • OS Proficiency: Extensive knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Analytical Skills: Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work outside of core hours when needed.

Desirable Experience and Skills:

  • Cloud Services: Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and AWS architectures.
  • Vendor-Specific Knowledge: Experience with Cisco Switches, Fortinet firewalls, and Dell Servers (iDRAC preferred).
  • Resiliency Platforms: Knowledge of Veeam and Zerto for data backup and recovery.
  • Security Tools: Experience with Rapid7 and ITIL practices.
  • Scripting and Automation: Ability to create scripts to automate network solutions.
  • Pentest Remediation: Plan and implement pen test remediations, communicating impacts to key business stakeholders.
  • Certificate Management: Knowledge in updating Self Signed/Domain certificates across network services/devices.
