Electrical Systems Specialist for Airport Vehicles

Red Sky Personnel Ltd is seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Specialist to join our team at Heathrow Airport. This role involves carrying out routine electrical works, including vehicle preparation and the installation of electronics equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing electrical malfunctions on a wide range of vehicles, as well as ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with corporate health and safety guidelines and ISO 9001 framework.

Salary: £47,179 per annum

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Determine the cause of electrical system malfunctions on airport vehicles through visual inspection and communication with the Workshop Supervisor.
  2. Repair or replace defective wiring, lighting, air conditioning, and safety control systems, maintaining accurate maintenance records.
  3. Test and replace faulty alternators, generators, starter motors, batteries, voltage regulators, and ignition systems, as well as repair/replace electrical wiring, fuses, lamps, and switches.
  4. Install, maintain, and repair electrically operated accessories, including telematics systems.
  5. Familiarize yourself with test instruments to conduct testing and quality control inspections, and be fully conversant with wiring/circuit diagrams to locate and repair electrical faults.
  6. Work collaboratively as part of a team, maintaining good working relationships with colleagues and customers.
  7. Avoid errors and safety issues by adhering to correct working procedures and reporting any concerns to Management promptly.
  8. Complete job cards/inspection sheets accurately according to TCR guidelines.
  9. Ensure the workspace remains clean and tidy, reporting any Health and Safety concerns immediately.
  10. Undertake additional duties or activities as required, including Workshop Supervisor responsibilities when necessary.

Requirements:

  1. Level 2 or 3 qualification in Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Principles.
  2. BTEC HNC Diploma.
  3. Candidate should have LGV 2 certification (desirable but not essential).
  4. Forklift experience (desirable).

  2. You should have knowledge of fundamental electrical wiring principles and the ability to read electrical wiring diagrams.
  3. You should demonstrate good practical and analytical skills for using a variety of tools and electronic instruments.
  4. You should stay up-to-date with developments in engine and electrical technology.
  5. You should be able to work methodically and pay close attention to detail.
  6. You should be skilled at solving complex problems and able to communicate electrical issues effectively to non-technical individuals.
  7. You should be comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  8. You should understand TCR procedures and systems.
  9. You should prioritize customer service delivery.
  10. You should be familiar with general health and safety regulations.
  11. You should have experience working in vehicle electronics roles with strong diagnostic abilities.
  12. You should have mechanical knowledge.
  13. You should possess operational vehicle/logistical background.
  14. You should hold a full UK driving license.
  15. You should have experience working in customer-focused environments.
