About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Civil Engineering Apprentice to join our team in Water Civil Engineering. As a Civil Engineering Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced engineers on live projects, gaining hands-on experience in the design and delivery of water infrastructure systems.

Your Responsibilities

  1. Undertake technical and feasibility studies to assess the practicality of solutions for potable water, foul water, surface water, and attenuation requirements.
  2. Produce designs of water infrastructure, including pump systems and pipe networks, with attention to safety in design.
  3. Produce technical engineering drawings, including plans, sections, and typical details.
  4. Undertake numerical analysis using computer-based programs to study potable, surface, and wastewater systems.
  5. Stay up-to-date with developments in regulatory legislation and guidelines affecting design work.
  6. Collaborate with team members on technical work, site work, and project management.
  7. Opportunities for site visits to develop a wider understanding of how designs are implemented.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 'C/4' or above, including Mathematics & English.
  • Three A-Levels (or equivalent) including Maths and a physical science at grade 'C' or above.
  • Some work experience or shadowing in an engineering environment would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrate an interest and desire to pursue a career in Water Civil Engineering.
  • Show an aptitude towards software-based engineering and drawing.
  • Commitment to continued education and improvement through on-the-job learning and training opportunities.
  • Creative, practical, adaptable, and enthusiastic.
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Ability to think in a methodical way to design, plan, and organize parts of projects.
  • English language proficient, holding excellent communication skills to present information in speech, drawings, and reports.
