About the Role

The Geography Department at Ark Victoria Academy is seeking an exceptional leader to take on the role of Head of Geography. As a key member of the school's leadership team, you will be responsible for driving the development and implementation of a rigorous and evidence-based curriculum that enables scholars to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Curriculum Development: Design and lead the development of a broad, engaging, and challenging curriculum that meets the needs of all scholars.
  2. Teaching and Learning: Analyze scholar progress data and refine learning plans to close gaps and address misconceptions.
  3. Assessment and Feedback: Implement the school's approach to marking and feedback, providing developmental oral and written feedback to scholars.
  4. Department Management: Manage the deployment of department resources, monitor scholar progress, and plan support interventions.
  5. Professional Development: Support the professional development of teachers, including training and coaching.
  6. Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret data on scholar achievement, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to address them.
  7. Reporting and Communication: Prepare and present informative reports on scholar progress to parents, governors, and other stakeholders.
Requirements

  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of coaching and mentoring teachers.
